Team SwiftCarbon South Africa

The New Team On The Roads

February 22nd, 2013

Although we are based in China at the centre of carbon fibre production, the heart and soul of SwiftCarbon is definitely South African.  Company founder Mark Blewett is fiercely proud of his heritage, perhaps more so for having represented the country in cycling as South Africa emerged back onto the international sporting stage after the isolation years.

This, in part, is why 2013 sees the launch of the new South African SwiftCarbon team. They are concentrating primarily on road races, but are also making the most of the amazing D-Vore for regular off road assaults on the mtb scene.

The team comprises of six core riders: Carl Pasio, Simon Swemmer, Matthew Evans, Matthew Merrington, Mark Nel and Jos Le Roux. Edward Green is also a team member although he is currently pursuing a pro contract in Europe, but has his spiritual home on team SwiftCarbon SA. Soon to be joining the fold are two young development riders and Blewett himself will be passing on his hard earned knowledge to ensure they reach their full potential.

The team are racing the flagship Ultravox Ti model on the road, the Neurogen in the time trials, and of course the D-Vore in the dirt.

The team has started the year really strongly, with Carl Pasio taking the victory at the Medallion race, and a great second place in one of South Africa’s biggest races, the 99er. Moving forward, the team are hoping to take out a national title at the forthcoming championships, and then close out the season with a result at the legendary Cape Argus.

We’ll be following their progress with interest over the next months. Stay fast guys.
