SwiftCarbon look back at the Ironman season

We review what proved to be a great season for our Ironman athletes.

November 21st, 2012

2012 was an incredibly successful year for the SwiftCarbon sponsored triathletes, and as Ironman Arizona last weekend was the final race of the season, we take this opportunity to look back at some of the highlights.

The season got off to a great start with new SwiftCarbon signing Michelle Mitchell winning Ironman Australia. She is still relatively new to Ironman and so is an incredibly exciting prospect. This was her second victory at the distance, but of the two this was by far the bigger win and cements her place as a future star.

Roman Guillaume confirmed his promise with his first win at Ironman distance, in France. He has been knocking on the door for a number of years, racking up a host of podium finishes in the process and so this victory must have seemed like sweet relief for him. He used his strong cycling ability to eek out a massive 16 minute lead going into the run and he held on valiantly for his maiden win.

SwiftCarbon’s final victory of the year came in late August for the American athlete Bree Wee. Like Roman, this was her first victory at Ironman distance, and she too used her incredible cycling strength to forge a lead on the bike that she was able to hold to the line.

Next season sees the guys competing on the Neurogen model, and from the feedback we received from Roman and Jozsef Major who rode them at the World Championships in Kona, it should give them an even greater advantage going into next year. We’re looking forward to it already.
